Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek was arrested as part of the ongoing “bribery” investigation.
An investigation into “bribery” launched by the Antalya Public Prosecutor’s Office resulted in a decision to detain Böcek, along with 2 other suspects. The statement from the prosecutor’s office announced that the Metropolitan Mayor Böcek and his former daughter-in-law Zeynep Kerimoğlu were taken into custody, while Böcek’s son Mustafa Gökhan Böcek was reported to be abroad.
The statement mentioned that “search, seizure, and detention procedures were carried out in the bribery investigation involving 3 suspects for two different actions.” The Antalya Police Department’s Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch completed the searches at the suspects’ addresses.

Details in the investigation file revealed that during the 2024 local elections campaign, Böcek’s son Mustafa Gökhan Böcek allegedly demanded 25 million Turkish Liras regarding electoral activities from a businessperson named Y.Y at his office. When this amount was not met, it was alleged that an agreement was reached for an 8.5 million Lira payment for clothing services. Another detail in the file claimed that in February, Mustafa Gökhan Böcek purchased a house for 30 million Liras from a construction company in the name of his former wife Zeynep Kerimoğlu, and this amount was reportedly paid to the construction company in three installments by the individual Y.Y. Bank account transactions and receipts related to the payment were stated to be included in MASAK reports.
Mayor Muhittin Böcek and former daughter-in-law Zeynep Kerimoğlu completed their police statements. After their health checks, Böcek and Zeynep Kerimoğlu were sent to the courthouse. While Kerimoğlu was released under travel ban restrictions, Muhittin Böcek was arrested by the peace criminal judge he was presented to.
